First in a series of commercials for Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. A.U.Th. being the first ecological university in Greece, gives the chance to all citizens of Thessaloniki to have their own organic vegetable garden and offers support with seminars and students help. The original idea was to set up a whole set with paper cut items and shoot the commercial. But the time frame didn't allow us that and I had to make the digital illustrations have a look of paper cut 2d set up in a 3d environment. The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the critical issues of racism and bullying in the greek schools and also the major issue of participation in the school community. I decided to focus on the kids psychology and try to make the viewer feel the kid involved in any of the issues. The way I felt this could be done was by waking up childhood feelings. So I created six colorful figures from play doh, resembling kids in a school community. Everybody has played with it and it is a good reference to an early childhood. I also designed some basic shapes resembling the communication - the language between these creatures. The written message that the client had come up with would have to be scaled down, giving the way to the feelings created by the image. So, the color was used to depict racism and participation, while the broken down creatures spoke of bullying. It is obvious that Nikolas is a very energetic kid! So since his baptism was going to be held in the village he found a way and started chasing the chicken! I wanted to design a funny invitation and I came up with the idea of a table game with Nikolas chasing the chicken. The aim of the game is for the chicken to outrun Nikolas and make it out of the fence before they get caught. The chicken start the game and Nikolas has to wait 2 rounds before starting. In each round, each player rolls the dice and moves her chicken. In the end of the turn, one player rolls for Nikolas. The chickens and Nikolas are made from printed wood. The board is printed on canvas so that it can be rolled and easily packed. The whole thing was packed in a small purse. I also designed a 3-page pdf to be sent by email. It has a different layout than the game, and it just uses the blocks to send the message for the when, where and who. And of course Nikolas is chasing on the chicken in the 3rd page. And then there was the matter of the Godmother and her friends. They needed some funny t-shirts and I created the Chicken Police Logo for them! I designed this poster for an event held to support the University. It reads: "The University is in danger. A.U.Th. sends an S.O.S. Supporting event for our University..."and then states the date, time and place. I chose to display the universal distress code (S.O.S) with really big dots and lines, that seem worn out.
